Introducing Expanded Hours to Serve You Better!

We are pleased to announce the launch of a pilot program offering late afternoon and evening unemployment insurance hearings on Mondays and Tuesdays. This initiative is designed to make the hearing process more convenient and accessible for participants. We understand that daytime schedules are often busy with work, school, and family commitments. By offering hearings later in the day, parties may have greater flexibility to attend their hearing without missing work or rearranging important daytime commitments. If you are interested in having your hearing scheduled later in the day, at 2:30PM, 4:30PM or 6:00PM, please contact our office at (518) 402-0210 for more information or to request one of these hearing time slots. We look forward to serving you through this important, new initiative!

Who We Are

The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Appeal Board decides issues of unemployment insurance benefit eligibility and unemployment insurance contribution liability. The Board and its administrative law judges who conduct hearings are independent of the Department of Labor in making these decisions.
What Does The Board Do?
Lower Authority

At the Lower Authority, administrative law judges hold hearings and make decisions concerning determinations made by the Department of Labor regarding claimant’s eligibility to receive unemployment insurance benefits and the liability of employers for unemployment insurance contributions.

Higher Authority

At the Higher Authority, one or more of the Board’s five Members make decisions on appeals by claimants, employers, and the Department of Labor from decisions of the administrative law judges at the Lower Authority.
